IN terms of section 27(2) of the Civil Protection Act [Chapter 10:06], His Excellency the President hereby declares as follows: —


1. Title

This notice may be cited as the Civil Protection (Declaration of State of Disaster: Rural and Urban Areas of Zimbabwe) (COVID-19) Notice, 2020.

2. Interpretation

In this notice —COVID-19” means the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov), which is an infectious disease caused by a virus which, having emerged during 2019, was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organisation on the 11th March, 2020;urban area” means any area which is —(a)a municipal area, town area or local government area; or(b)a town ward of a rural district council or an area declared to be a specified area in terms of the Rural District Councils Act [Chapter 29:13] ', or(c)a township as defined in the Land Survey Act [Chapter 20:12]',rural area” means any area outside an urban area.

3. Declaration of state of disaster

In the wake of the declaration by the World Health Organisation of COVID-19 as a global pandemic, a state of disaster exists in all rural and urban areas in Zimbabwe with effect from promulgation of this notice.
